  This is a small lay led congregation belonging to the Unitarian Universalist Association. Like all UU churches its membership embraces a wide variety of theological views ranging from liberal Christian to atheist. Many would describe themselves as "recovering Baptist or recovering XXXX. The congregation is possibly the most socially liberal religious institution on the Grand Strand. Its consulting minister is gay and same sex marriage is generally viewed as an obvious right. Programs feature a number of visiting ministers and rabbi's, a number of college professors from CCU and Charleston and presentations by members. It is friendly, its music program is weak and its children's program is small but well supported by this largely retirement age congregation. In the interest of full disclosure, the reviewer is an active member of the congregation
